So y'all remember that Audio Adrenaline song, "Big House", right?
You know, Come and go with me to my father's house. It's a big, big house....
I distinctly remember going to their concert sometime in high school.
And that wasn't that long ago...
Well, anyway, Neely has been singing that song over and over again and she said that she had learned it at preschool. Well, today I told her teacher how cool I thought it was that they were singing contemporary songs. And she looked at me like I was crazy.
I said, you know "Big House" by Audio Adrenaline. And the other teacher said, "Yeah another mom said the same thing, but we've never heard of it."
WHAT? How can that be? Isn't it still popular? Am I really that old? I just looked it up & that song was released in 1993. WHAT? It is almost 20 years old and I AM THAT OLD. And 1992 would mean that I went to the concert in Jr. High.
Over the weekend we went to Dallas. I am so lucky to get to work from home, but once a year, I have to make a business trip to the Dallas Toy Fair. Since I'm still nursing, Brad and the girls came along.
We really had a great time. We stayed in Plano the first night and ate at Cheesecake Factory and shopped at Ikea. The next day we went to the Fort Worth Zoo which was fabulous. The weather was perfect. The zoo wasn't crowded. And it was the perfect size for us.
Since I was going to be gone the next day, I wanted Brad to practice with Lela in the Baby Bjorn. Usually I carry her in the Baby K'tan, so I wasn't sure how she would like it, but she loved riding forward.
Here is Neely in the bird house. You could buy sticks with birdseed on them and she chased around the birds trying to get them to eat. All I could think about the whole time I was in here was how much Laurie would hate it. There were hundreds of birds and they were flying EVERYWHERE.
Neely saw a sign for popsicles on the map & was dying for one. She ate the purple part and was finished with it. Money well spent.
Lela is such a trooper. I really believe that in order to have good toddlers that you have to train babies to be out and about. She really is super good going everywhere we go.
And the monkey had a baby. Can you see it? It was about the cutest thing I've ever seen and it loved the people watching.
My sweet girl and me.
On Monday, I had my meeting. The plan was that Brad would take the girls to the Arboretum when I left for my meeting. They would eat lunch there and he would feed her a bottle for her first feeding. Lela wouldn't take a bottle from him (although she will take them from me), so she was screaming and then Neely got pushed down by a little boy at the pumpkin patch and was crying, so he called it a day, and called me to come downstairs at the convention center to nurse Lela.
The theme of the Pumpkin Village at the Arboretum this year was Cinderella...here is a picture in Cinderella's carriage.
I think the rest of the day was as big of a disaster as the beginning. In total, Lela took 4 ounces out of a bottle and slept 15 minutes. Lucky for Brad, I got a break at 6 and was able to come back to the hotel to feed Lela and get her to sleep for the night.
Although I am so sad that they didn't have a fun day, I am glad that he got a chance to see what one of my bad days feels like. :)
